The National School of Public Health of NOVA University of Lisbon (ENSP-NOVA) is organizing professional development workshops for teachers and educators looking to update their knowledge in diverse topics connected with public health, such as zoonosis, pandemics, social and environmental determinants of health, artificial intelligent systems, sustainable development goals and major non-communicable diseases.

This is a training program with the mission of promoting the creation of inclusive learning environments, students-centred, rooting on active methodologies and innovative pedagogical resources, for teaching the aforementioned topics, inside and outside the classroom. The knowledge and skills developed in this program will prove invaluable to teachers and relevant to their students’ academic and personal growth.

The program comprises a total of 15 hours of training, which teachers can attend in full or in modules, awarding a certificate of participation at the end. The first workshop will be held online, in Portuguese language, to facilitate the participation of teachers from different schools and levels of education.

The workshop is interactive, engaging and hands-on, focusing on real-world issues and challenges that teachers will confidently address in school. The participants will have the opportunity to learn with peers/educators from different backgrounds and geographies, collaborate with peers and meet new people. The program is open to all teachers who wish to improve their skills and knowledge in the above-mentioned topics and gives priority to teachers of the 7th, 8th and 9th grade, due to the alignment of the topics with the curriculum and essential learnings of the 3rd cycle.

To know more about the workshop, and reserve a place, interested professors should send an email to mmc.santos@ensp.unl.pt.

The workshops will start at the end of June and run through July, but other dates may be announced if demand is high, so interested teachers are encouraged to apply as early as possible.

Don’t miss this opportunity to renew your knowledge and become an ambassador for public health in your school and other living environments!
