PAFSE at the Dairy Vocational School of Ioannina

On January 24, 2024, members of PAFSE project visited the public Dairy Vocational School of Ioannina (https://www.facebook.com/GalaktokomikoIEK). During our visit, an elementary school group was also present at the Dairy School. PAFSE members, along with pupils and teachers from the elementary school, engaged with the scientific and technical staff of the Dairy Vocational School. They provided us with a comprehensive tour of the production line and explained the processes involved in producing various types of cheese.

During the tour, we had the opportunity to sample a diverse range of cheeses, including hard, semi-hard, semi-soft, soft, fresh, and the renowned Greek feta cheese, as well as cheeses infused with herbs, among others. It is noteworthy to mention that all these products are crafted by the students of the Dairy School as part of their educational curriculum.

The personnel of the Dairy School underscored the stringent standards adhered to in the production process, with particular emphasis on health and safety considerations. Graduates of the Dairy Vocational School of Ioannina are certified as “dairy technicians – cheese makers”, highlighting the comprehensive nature of their education and training.
