Moments from the PAFSE open schooling events of the cluster supervised by the University of Ioannina
The PAFSE open schooling events of the cluster supervised by the University of Ioannina, reach their end.
The pilot schools organized their events with the collaboration of STEM stakeholders such as the Hellenic Scientific Association of Information & Communication Technologies in Education (ETPE), CivilSport the social cooperative enterprise for human support, and governmental agencies such as the region of Epirus and the municipality of Ioannina.
The students’ presentations and activities were enriched with stakeholders’ and other scientists’ interventions.
Students at the high school of Chrisovitsa and her biology teacher Mrs. Stathoula Stefou collaborated with Mrs. Jenny Nouli, chemist MSc at the Department of Chemistry University of Ioannina, and conducted experiments on the dietary addiction using sugar as an example.
During the open event of the Arsakeio high school at Ioannina, Professor of Immunology George Thyphronitis at the Department of Biological Applications & Technology University of Ioannina discussed n relevant topics, and Dr. Dimitrios Korakas, Educational Advisor on Science Education of the region of Epirus, discussed topics on student – centered and inquiry-based teaching with students and their teachers Dr. Aikaterini Tatsi, Physicist School Principal, Mrs. Elissavet Markatzinou Biologist, and Mrs. Ioanna Mertzani Economist.
A joint open event in the city of Arta, was organized at the Chamber of Arta by the 2nd high school with their biology teacher Mrs. Evagelia Mitroyanni, 3rd high school with chemist Mrs. Vassiliki Karagianni, and 5th high school with biologist Mrs. Vassiliki Ligkou. The students presented their projects, and Dr. Pari Chambilomati, Head of the Secondary Education Directorate of Regional Unit of Arta discussed relevant topics. Among other activities, the biology teacher Mrs. Ligkou created keychains representing antigens and antibodies.
